ALBANY, Ore. — Linn County has lowered flags to half-staff in remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the United States and in honor of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old political activist who was killed Wednesday at a college speaking engagement in Utah.

The flags will remain lowered through sunset on Sunday, September 14, following state and federal orders.

On September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 civilians and first responders.

Wednesday, Mr. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

“As a mark of respect in memory of Charlie Kirk”, President Trump ordered the U.S. flag be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, September 14, at the White House, District of Columbia, all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval stations, naval vessels, U.S. embassies, territories and other facilities abroad.
