Hoover Campground is located along Blowout Road (Forest Service Road #10) approximately 3.7 miles east of Detroit, Oregon, at an elevation of 1,600 feet. It is a 25-acre site adjacent to Detroit Lake on the North Santiam River. The main travel surfaces within the campground are paved.

Park Location

Drive 2.7 miles east of Detroit, OR on Highway 22. Turn onto Blowout Road/Forest Service Road 10, then go 0.75 miles west to the Hoover Group Site.

Park Usage

The campground area offers 35 campsites, 26 single and 9 double sites, that can accommodate trailers up to 45 feet in length. The campsites are laid out in two main loops with sites #1-20 in one and sites #21-37 in the other. There is a designated host site (#21) near the entrance. there are approximately 20 extra-vehicle parking spaces on the east side of the campground for overflow paring. The group camp offers a group site composed of 6 individual campsites and a picnic shelter for groups of up to 70 people. The site can accommodate trailers up to 30 feet in length. All sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. The day use area includes a boat launch, 2 courtesy docks, a fishing pier, and 2 lakeside viewing platforms. There are approximately 35 parking spaces for use at the boat ramp area, which have also been used as overflow parking (e.g. extra vehicle w/boat trailer) for the campground.

Water is available to visitors from faucet risers throughout the site. There are 2 double-flush toilets and 1 single vault toilet located in accessible locations within the site. The group site has two single vaults. Trash receptacles are located in the campground. There is one self-guided nature trail within the sites.

Hoover sits among Douglas fir and maple trees and large ferns at an elevation of 1,600 feet. The campground is located in the North Santiam Travel Corridor of Willamette National Forest. The forest covers 1.6 million acres on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains.

This campground has reservable and FCFS campsites.

A card pay kiosk is now offered for your convenience; you can pay day use fees, camping fees and pay for firewood and ice by utilizing the kiosk.

Reservations for this site can be made up to 6 months in advance of reservation date for individual camp sites and 12 months in advance of arrival date for the group camp by reserving online at Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.

If I book this reservation today, what are my options to change or cancel?

Please remember that reservations at these facilities prevent other visitors from using these sites. Planned changes to your stay should be made as far in advance as possible. You can make changes to your reservation ahead of your arrival date in My Reservations via the Rec.Gov website

Changes

If your new stay dates are completely different from your original stay dates, there is a $10 change fee (per reserved site). There are no additional fees for:

Adding or removing nights to your stay.
Changing to a different campsite.

Balances will adjust based on your new stay’s nightly rate.

Cancellations

You can cancel the reservation any time before the date of your scheduled arrival. You will receive a refund for your stay, minus the following fees:

$10 cancellation fee
Any reservation fees (only if paid when booking)
Any previous change fees

What is “Late”?

For individual campsites, a late cancellation applies starting from midnight 1 calendar day before your scheduled check-in. For cabins and group sites, a late cancellation applies starting from midnight 14 calendar days or fewer before your scheduled check-in.

Late Fee

In addition to the fees listed above, a late cancellation will also subtract your first night’s recreation use fee from any refund owed. As of the expected check-in day, cancellations or changes to your stay are not possible through My Reservations. It is at the facility’s discretion to support additional Late Cancellations, No Show, or Early Departure updates – on-site personnel may not be able to assist. Detroit Lake provides the major attraction for recreation opportunities at this site. Detroit Lake provides countless water recreation opportunities abound such as boating, waterskiing, kayaking, fishing, etc. Additionally, there are numerous trails in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness and adjacent National Forest that recreational users come to the area to enjoy.

Catfish, rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon are among the most common species found in the lake. A convenient boat ramp is in the campground. Several hiking trails dot the area, including Stahlman Point Trail, which offers beautiful vistas of Detroit Lake and the surrounding area. The Hoover Nature Trail is a short footpath that delights many campers.
