Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to fish, amazing views, or a place to bring the kids for an adventure, you’ll find it at Clear Lake Resort. Visitors can enjoy a hike, run, or bike around the Clear Lake Loop Trail or connect to the 26 mile McKenzie River Trail. The Resort is located near the McKenzie and Santiam Rivers; great waterways for river rafting, floating and boating.

Enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast or lunch, purchase grab and go grocery and drink items, as well as fishing gear and apparel in the lodge. Boats are available for rental during the fall/winter, and it is gorgeous out on the lake right now.

Dogs are allowed in the cabins with a $15, per pet fee, two dog maximum. Dogs are not allowed in the yurts.

Join us for a day on the pristine waters of Clear Lake to enjoy rowing, fishing, and sight-seeing from one of our rental rowboats, or kayaks. Personal watercrafts are welcome at the lake. If you are planning on renting boats on the weekend make sure to come early, as they are very popular!

There is a $9 parking fee at Clear Lake; you will find a card swipe kiosk located at the entrance of the park.

Clear Lake, the “lake born of fire,” was formed by an eruption 3,000 years ago. Lava from Sand Mountain traveled its way to the ancestral McKenzie River entrance enclosing the valley. There existed a dense Douglas fur forest that lined the banks of the river. This original forest was submerged by the eruption of magma, creating a new ecosystem. Remnants of some of these submerged trees still stand under 120 feet of glacier water that are visible from above. These trees continue to be preserved today due to the extremely cold water.

Scuba divers from all over the world come to swim amongst the haunted-like sunken trees that dot along the desolate lake floor. Above the surface boaters can experience the same clear images of the massive trees, because the temperature prevents many types of algae to grow, keeping the waters from clouding up.

Please note, the nearly freezing temperature of the lake makes it unsuitable for swimming.

The Clear Lake and Waterfall hiking loops traverse a land shaped by glaciers, rivers, and lava flows. This area was glaciated during the last ice age; the McKenzie River now flows where ice used to reign. In the last few thousand years, lava flows from the Sand Mountain volcanic chain to the east have transformed the area. The 5 mile clear lake loop allows those to view these historical changes.

The McKenzie River Trail is a renowned 26-mile biking and hiking trail that overlaps with parts of the Clear Lake and Waterfall loops. The trail accesses numerous water features, such as Blue Pool, and numerous waterfalls. Visitors are able to access some of these areas from nearby parking areas, so those that are not able to travel on foot are still able to experience these wonders. Fall colors combined with the color of the lake create a color palette that everyone should experience. These stunning colors are later replaced with Winter snow blanketing the trees. This winter wonderland is an entirely different experience at the lake than offered in the Spring and Summer.

The lodge is currently open 8AM-5PM., 7 days a week. Power is provided by a generator.

You can check road conditions and view road cameras at ODOT’s TripCheck website. Our staff does maintain the entrance and exit road into the resort, but carry traction devices and come prepared with a four-wheel-drive vehicle during Winter visits.

Black Butte Ranch is located on the McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway. This idyllic ranch offers outstanding outdoor activities from golfing to fly fishing. You can take a trail ride, visit one of the horse camps, or bike along the 18 miles of paved trails (bike rentals are available). Play on one of the 23 tennis courts, go swimming in the indoor or outdoor pool or do some canoeing and kayaking on Phalarope Lake. Two beautiful golf courses are available for public play: the Glaze Meadow Golf Course and the Big Meadow Golf Course (recently renovated). For more information go to Black Butte Ranch

Hoodoo Ski Area is a great, winter playground for winter sports like cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, sledding, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. Hoodoo offers 5 ski lifts, an Autobahn Tube Park, 2-day lodges, equipment rentals, restaurants and a Nordic and Snowboard Center. Hoodoo is located on the summit of the Santiam Pass on Highway 20, just 20 miles northwest of Sisters, 40 miles northwest of Bend, 75 miles east of Albany, 85 miles southeast of Salem, and 75 miles northeast of Springfield/Eugene. McKenzie River Trail This is a renowned 26-mile biking and hiking trail. The trail accesses numerous wonders, including waterfalls, water wonders, such as Blue Pool, and stunning forest. Visitors are able to access some of these areas from nearby parking areas, so those that are not able to travel on foot or by bicycle are still able to experience these wonders. McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway This 82-mile route through the Willamette and Deschutes National Forest lets you set your own pace.

You can take a two-hour drive along this scenic roadway, enjoying vistas of the snowcapped Cascade peaks and dramatic lava fields. Or spend a more leisurely five hours exploring the Byway with stops at robins-egg blue lakes, rushing waterfalls like Sahalie and Koosah Falls, and deep forests. You’ll see volcanoes that are covered in glaciers and snow, views of Broken Top Mountain and the Three Sisters, and hiking along the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Stop at the Dee Wright Observatory for amazing views of the peaks.

Sisters, Oregon, where the outdoors take center stage, and for good reason. Surrounded by gleaming lakes, ponderosa pine forests, and the snowy Three Sisters Mountains, this is a phenomenal place to visit. In addition to its rivers and hiking trails, Sisters offers antique shops, art galleries, attractions, and excellent restaurants. You’ll also find a range of festivals including the Village Green Craft Shows, the Sisters Bead Stampede, Art Strolls, the Sisters Rodeo, the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, the Antique Show, the Western and Native American Arts Festival, the Sisters Folk Festival, the Sisters Jazz Festival, and the Harvest Faire. Cancellations within 4 days of scheduled arrival will not receive a refund.
Cancellation within 5-14 days of scheduled arrival will be refunded all but reservation fees ($12) and the 1st night camping fee.
Cancellations of overnight stays made 15 or more days in advance of your scheduled arrival date will be refunded all but the reservation fee ($12).
Early departures are non-refundable.

Reservations of six or more nights:

Changes to your arrival date will be charged the nightly rate plus a $12 change fee. No refunds will be given and all fees for overnight stays will be retained.
Early departures: Shortening of the departure date will incur a $12 reservation change fee. The nightly camping fees for the night dropped will be refunded.
There are no additional fees to extend your arrival or departure date.

Group site cancellation:

Cancellations made 31 days or more in advance will be refunded all but the $50 reservation fee.
Cancellations made within 15-30 days of arrival date will be refunded all but the $50 reservation fee and 1st night camping fee.
Cancellations made within 14 days of scheduled arrival will not receive a refund.
Early departures are non-refundable.
